Throat & Voice Care
Our throat and voice care service looks after the full range of throat, tonsil and voice-box complaints in children and adults — from a stubborn sore throat and repeated tonsillitis to a hoarse voice, tonsil stones and trouble swallowing. The throat is a busy crossroads for breathing, speaking and eating, so problems here can affect daily life in more ways than one, and getting to the cause is the first step to lasting relief.
Every assessment begins with your story — how long the symptoms have lasted, what makes them flare, and how much they are affecting eating, sleep and work — followed by a careful examination of the throat, tonsils and neck glands in the outpatient clinic. A sore throat may be simple pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat lining) or tonsillitis, and many cases are viral rather than bacterial, which is why the pattern of your symptoms and the examination guide treatment rather than the look of the throat alone.
Treatment is matched to the cause. Throat and tonsil infections are managed with supportive care and, where a bacterial infection is genuinely likely, appropriate medication decided after examination. A hoarse voice or laryngitis is assessed and cared for with practical voice advice, and swallowing difficulty is evaluated to find what lies behind it. Tonsillectomy — surgery to remove the tonsils — is never a first step; it is discussed only for frequent, well-documented episodes or when enlarged tonsils are obstructing breathing and sleep, and only after a proper assessment. Where a hoarse voice or a persistent lump sensation needs a closer look at the voice box, this can be arranged so nothing is missed.
As a throat specialist in Hyderabad, Dr. G Abhinav Kumar Reddy explains each step in plain language so you understand what is happening and why. Most throat and voice problems settle with the right care, and where surgery or further tests are the best option, the reasons and the recovery are talked through clearly beforehand, at Abhinav's ENT Care Center in Hastinapuram.
